Luxury Acrylic Print, Wide-Angle 60” x 20”
"July 15th of last year was a big day around my house. My little guy turned five, and to celebrate he wanted to go for a ride on a big blue city bus, followed by about three million rides at the Calgary Stampede. It was hot, muggy, crowded, and the line-ups were brutal. By 8pm that night, we were cranky and tired. During the day, I noticed some chatter online telling of a huge solar storm brewing, and even warning of a huge solar storm, and even though I was exhausted I decided to head west to the mountains at around midnight with hopes of photographing a light show. I visited a few of my favourite spots with no luck, and was feeling defeated when it started; I looked up and saw a harbinger of things to come - a thin beam of purple light gracing the summer sky. Then the beam turned into a pillar, then a few more streaks appeared like flare guns on the Titanic. By the end of the night the sky was bright, vibrant, and alive from the dancing auroras. I believe in Aurora - and I guess they turned up strong that night to wish my little guy happy birthday…”
